Nevada

What’s the best way to spend a hot summer day in Nevada? At the beach! You can cool off with some water, or just relax on the sand. Beach trips are great for families and friends. If you want to take your dog, there are plenty of beaches where they can come too. Here is our list of the top beaches that allow dogs in Nevada.

Dog Beach Tips

When you and your canine companion are planning a day at the beach, there are some things to keep in mind. Here’s a list of do’s and don’ts for dog-friendly beaches:

Don’t: Bring any plush toys as they can easily be torn apart and be swallowed by other dogs. Instead bring non-degradable rubber toys, or toys that are designed to be used at a dog beach.

Do: Bring extra towels as dogs tend to get wet all over. Even in Nevada, the temperature can get cold and drop quickly later in the day. As a rule of thumb, bring two towels for each person or dog that is going in the water.

Don’t: Forget the doggie bags. Many dog beaches in Nevada have free dog bag dispensors, however these may be empty, and you do not want to leave any dog waste behind at the beach.

Do: Bring extra water for your dog. Don’t allow them to drink large amounts of lake water as it can be full of bacteria and parasites.

Don’t: Leave your dog in the sun too long. Dogs can become overheated very quickly, and they may not cool off simply by going in the water.

Do: Bring an umbrella if it’s a sunny day. Like humans, dogs don’t do well in the sun for long periods of time, so give them a way to get some shade on a sunny day.

DON’T leave your dog unattended. Even if you have a calm or mellow dog, there are going to be other dogs at a dog beach who may be unsupervised by their owners.
